Sauce! A Comedy Show
Kendall Allison is keeping up with the times and evolving along with comedy
Kendall Allison is an organizer, Fordham University Alumni and most recently a comic! They created Sauce, a comedy show with a crew of comedians based in New York that proves comedy can be funny without being problematic. Self-deprecating, yes, but not triggering levels of offense.
The debate continues as the pedagogy of standup forms. Should comics have an “anything goes” strategy when taking the stage? Or is there always a level of morale that a jokester needs to uphold? Either way, you can get your laughs out at Sauce without anyone being offended, and we love to see it!
Kendall Allison is naturally funny and rightfully following their dream
Kendall has been in the comedy game for a few years, starting off with writing standups in various groups and workshops, one notably being WriteOn! ran by yours truly (shameless plug). Soon after, Kendall hit the stage and made their debut in standup in Brooklyn. The audience was shocked to learn that was Kendall’s first time doing standup, and rightfully so because they were hilarious! From that show, they were invited to battle in a standup comedy melee of sorts. They fought long and hard, and by that I mean they were the funniest comic of the night and won the cash prize!
Since then Kendall ventured to the west coast, which they actually call home, and continued nurturing their craft of “making a funny”. Kendall has since returned to New York and hasn’t wasted any time when it comes to making strides of hilarity!
Kendall Allison debuted Sauce
Sauce’s innagural show happened July 5th and featured 5 comedians within Kendall’s comedic network. Deep in the art district of Bushwick at the infamous Starr Bar, a community and organizing staple, and a perfectly fitting place for Kendall to host their show, dozens gathered to attend Sauce! Every comedian brought their own level of cringe, quirk, and crying laughing to the stage. The crowd was not disappointed!
Awkward salutations between host Kendall and the guests were priceless! And we even got some jokes from the host theirself. The first Sauce show went down the same way Kendall’s first standup moment went: it’s as if they’ve done this before. Such a seamless start in standup event curation seems like a good sign to me! Packing out Starr Bar is impressive; so the bar (haha get it) is set for Sauce!
